Book review time! That’s right after all of my moping and self-pitying, I’m finally back on the horse. Just in time for New Years. 2019 is bound to better than last year…knock on wood. Today, I’m reviewing Diane Anthony’s, Supernova. Diane is a traditionally published author, but still relatively unknown. You can find the link for her book off to the right side. Please check out her book and make your own opinions!
Supernova is a fantastic read, especially for you science fiction fans. It’s well researched (which is something I always appreciate). The characters are relatable, and I enjoy the family dynamic she has going on. Science fiction isn’t something I usually read, so bear with me, as I’m a little out of my comfort zone on this one.
Madeline is a spunky librarian who wakes up in her front yard with no memory of why. She’s not the only one, the whole world blacked out and woke up with superhuman powers, well everyone but, Madeline. The book follows her adventures trying to figure out what happened and why she alone seems to have no superpowers.
It’s a wonderful trip into what would happen if everyone in the world suddenly had unearthly powers. What does that look like and what becomes of law and order when people find they can use their abilities for more than good deeds? Chaos ensues and leaves you wondering if the world can ever recover.
The only thing I didn’t like was the side story with the criminals. There wasn’t enough of it to make me care about them or what they were doing, and I felt like they just didn’t fit in. Every time Vincent showed up, I was tempted to skip to the next chapter so I could get back to Madeline.
All in all, I’d give this a 4 out of 5! Diane is an extremely talented author, and I can’t wait to read her next book!
Have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve everyone! If you’re looking for resolutions, I’ve included a reading resolutions list that I’m going to be trying this year.
