Hello, Darlings!
The house still isn’t done. Part of me has started to think that I am definitely going to be trapped here for the rest of eternity. Then, I remember my dramatic tendencies and try and reel myself back in. It will end when it ends, so I might as well stop fussing about it. It’s not doing me any favors.
To keep myself moving in a positive direction, I’ve got several projects going. Abney Kelly Book 2 is officially four chapters in and 2020 is going to be a very exciting year. I have a vlog that will be going live called Subvergent Books for Rebel Readers. Basically, I’m going to be doing book reviews for indie authors and sharing some of my journey with self-publishing, with helpful information on where to start and things you should know. I will also be participating in a new podcast with a few friends. And of course, Underwater Trains and Abney Kelly & the Yuletide Shenanigans will finally be released! Here’s to the new Roaring ’20s!
Also, just getting back into the swing of things. I did a review for a fellow indie author! Please check out, The Light in the Darkness by Autumn M. Birt.
Autumn Birt has created a wonderfully dark and modern fairy-tale for adults. It takes you on a vivid journey with a Fae-drug-addict, Riasg, as he tries to save an ancient Fae from his own Dark Queen.
I love to see fantasy mixing with reality, and Autumn has brought old-world creatures into our modern society with a very real sting. The idea that everything humans have done to the world is destroying the magic that once was is an enticing and frightening idea. Listening to the plight of these characters makes me feel worse about the damage we are doing to the earth, and yes, I know fairies aren’t real, but you can’t help but empathize with these creatures.
The only complaint I have is because this is a novella, it’s short, and I was left with this want for so much more. Luckily, I understand there is more to come.
I would highly recommend this read for fantasy and fairy-tale fans! Can’t wait for the sequel! Support your local creative community, buy from an indie-author today!
