We Hunt the Flame, by Hafsah Faizal
Prepare yourself for a fantastic journey into the best fantasy I’ve read in ages! Beautifully written, the world-building is extraordinary! I seriously cannot say enough good things about this book. Hafsah Faizal’s debut novel dazzles, and I’m dying for the next installment!
So, I’m going to go a little Spice Girls on you guys and say girl power! I love seeing a strong woman as the protagonist in a fantasy series. I also love that while she has a love interest, getting to be “his girl” is not the only thing on her mind. She has goals and ambitions that have nothing to do with him, and I have to say that for me, it makes their relationship even hotter. P.S. kudos to Hafsah for keeping that sexual tension going, it’s frustrating and incredibly well-done in the same breath.
I encourage you all to travel to Arawiya, venture into the Arz and set sail with Zafira and Nasir as they journey into darkness to bring magic back to their people. It’s a buffet of decadent ancient Arabian flavors with just the right sprinkling of magic. You’re not going to want to miss this!
On a personal note, we have finally started to paint inside. I swear to God, I hope to never mud another wall for the rest of my life. Eight weeks of mudding! EIGHT WEEKS! Here’s to this project not taking another eight weeks and hopefully selling quickly!
