Review of The Confectioner’s Guild by Claire Luana

Aloha!

Today, there’s really no news to report, but I do have another book review!

The Confectioner’s Guild, by Claire Luana

I wasn’t over-the-moon for this in the beginning. It starts with a murder and gets the main character involved when it didn’t seem to make sense for her to be. I still feel like an introductory chapter would smooth out that initial jarring sense of just being tossed in. It’s a personal thing. I dislike being thrown into the middle of something, with no information and little reason to care for the heroine, but boy am I glad I stayed tuned! I quickly became engrossed and couldn’t put it down.

Once I waded through the beginning, I was hooked! Seriously, I finished 60% of the book in one sitting. It’s been a long time since a book made me want to do that. It’s fun, creative, and I’m in love with this new world I find myself immersed in. It’s like Terry Pratchett and Erin Morgenstern had a baby, and I’m thrilled. Can’t wait to start the next book!
